The Department of Further & Higher Education, Research, Innovation & Science needed three video campaigns produced around two programmes – Building Heroes and Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) - directed at specific channels and audiences: a series of social media films to attract young people into construction, a long-form documentary film around MMC and a series of informationals which would outline MMC techniques and characteristics to construction tradespeople.
We came back with a three-pronged production approach tailored to the intent and tone of the messaging: firstly, a series of three gritty, fly-on-the-wall documentary films shot with younger demographics in mind for their Building Heroes campaign. We then re-imagined the long-form piece as part of the wider societal conversation around housing in Ireland and produced an hour long TV documentary. Lastly, we went the graphic route for an eight part series of animated informational videos. The latter two strands were both fronted by Harrison Gardner, a recognised personality within the sector who brought a nice tone to the films with his naturalism and relatability.
DFHERIS were chuffed with the outcome; the social films are widely shared and have garnered extensive positive reaction; the doc is about to be aired on terrestrial television later this year and brought considerable exposure to the topic of MMC and has generated knock-on TV, digital and print media attention. The animations have gone out on Skillnet and are being complimented for their concision and accessibility.
